CUMULUS NEWS RELEASE JUL 29, 1999 CUMULUS MEDIA INC. CHOOSES BIS AS AUTOMATION STANDARD MILWAUKEE, WI July 29, 1999 -- Cumulus Media Inc. (NASDAQ: CMLS), the nation’s third largest owner and operator of radio stations (based upon the number of stations owned or to be acquired pursuant to pending acquisition agreements), today announced that it will standardize its radio stations on non-proprietary digital studio and audio software from Broadcast Software International (BSI) of Eugene, Oregon. “We have all the major radio station systems in operation in one or more markets,” said Richard Weening, Executive Chairman of Cumulus. “While there are several fine systems out there, we conclude that BSI WaveStation is the easiest to use, the most versatile and reliable, and because of their open standards architecture the most compatible with our other plans.” BSI President Ron Burley said, “We are very pleased to have the Cumulus stations join the rapidly expanding family of BSI users.
