THE ROCK 105, OF CHATTANOOGA
LAUNCHES
Chattanooga, TN – September 15, 1999 -- Cumulus Broadcasting launched
WLMX-105.5 FM as ROCK 105, The Rock of Chattanooga, at 1:05 p.m. (EDT).
ROCK 105 is geared towards today’s rock listener, with a focus on active
rock artists. Listeners of ROCK 105 will be entertained on
their way to work by the outrageously funny Lex and Terry Morning Show.
Throughout the day ROCK 105 personalities will keep listeners energized
with Metallica, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Nirvana, and many others. In addition
to regular programming, the weekend will provide listeners with in-depth
coverage of popular NASCAR racing.
“This station will fill a void for active rock listeners in our area,”
according to Sammy George, market manger for the Chattanooga cluster of
Cumulus radio stations. “We think of it as radio with an attitude,”
George said.
Targeting adults age 18 to 49, ROCK 105 can be heard in Chattanooga
as well as the surrounding counties, including Catoosa, Dade, Hamilton,
Marion, and Walker.
Cumulus Broadcasting also owns and operates four other stations serving
Chattanooga including WUSY-FM (US 101), WKXJ-FM (98.1), WLOV-FM (97.3),
and WLMX-AM (980).
